"I Will Always Love You" is a song written by American singer-songwriter Dolly Parton in 1973, who first released the song as a single in 1974.

In 1992, singer Whitney Houston recorded the song for the soundtrack to The Bodyguard, her film debut. Houston was originally to record Jimmy Ruffin's "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" as the lead single from The Bodyguard. However, when it was discovered the song was to be used for Fried Green Tomatoes, Houston requested a different song and her co-star Kevin Costner brought her Linda Ronstadt's 1975 version of "I Will Always Love You" from her album Prisoner in Disguise. Houston and producer David Foster re-arranged the song as a soul ballad. Her record company did not feel a song with an a cappella introduction would be as successful; however, Houston and Costner insisted on retaining the a cappella intro. The tenor saxophone solo was played by Kirk Whalum. Whitney Houston's recording is not the only version of the song featured in the movie. In a scene where she dances with Kevin Costner, a version by John Doe can be heard playing on a jukebox.

Houston's version was a massive worldwide success, appearing at number 68 on Billboard's "Greatest Songs of All Time."

The single's music video, credited to Alan Smithee, begins with the performance of the song Houston gives at the end of The Bodyguard. The video then cuts to Houston in a dark blue suit sitting in an empty theater with the spotlight shining on her, singing of her love. The video is intercut with scenes from The Bodyguard and gives the viewer the experience of reliving the moments with the singer. She is also filmed sitting during this video due to her pregnancy with her daughter

Belle Epoque (also referenced in some sources as La Belle Epoque) was the name of a female vocal trio, based in Paris, France. The group first rose to popularity during the mid to late 1970s with a disco remake of the song, "Black Is Black", originally a hit in 1966 for the Spanish group Los Bravos.

Belle Epoque consisted of lead singer Evelyne Lenton, a French singer who began recording and performing in the early 1960s under the name Evy, as well as two back-up singers. Originally, the back-up singers were Jusy Fortes (also known as Judy Lisboa, originating from Cape Verde, and Marcia Briscoe (also known as Marcia Briscue, hailing from Atlanta, Georgia. However, over time, as Lenton notes, "The girls kept changing with the circumstances."

The trio scored a major European hit in 1977 with their discofied remake of "Black Is Black", sometimes also known as "Disco Sound/Black Is Black". The Belle Epoque version was a top ten hit in many European countries, including number 2 in the UK Singles Chart (the same chart position that Los Bravos' original had reached there eleven years earlier). The song also became a number 1 hit in Australia in 1978.

In the U.S., Belle Epoque are better known for another song, "Miss Broadway", which charted at number 26 on the U.S. R&B chart and at number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978. "Love Missile F1-11" is a song by British synthpop band Sigue Sigue Sputnik released in March 1986 as the first single from their debut album Flaunt It. It was the band's biggest hit, reaching #3 on the UK Singles Chart. The bass line, repeated on their follow up single "21st Century Boy", is similar to both Devo's earlier "Girl U Want", and Suicide's 1977 track "Rocket USA".

Relying on gimmicks and sound FXs to create a futuristic atmosphere, the song features vocals with high echo and multiple sound effects. It begins with a sample from Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film A Clockwork Orange where Malcolm McDowell's character Alex, professes his fondness for a bit "of the old ultra-violence". David Bowie covered the song as an outtake during the sessions for his 2003 album, Reality. It was then released as a B-side for the single "New Killer Star". Pop Will Eat Itself released a cover of the song as a single in May 1987, before including it on the Box Frenzy LP in 1988. A version of the song is featured in the South Park episode Super Fun Time, with Eric Cartman singing along "I'm having a super fun time". Also there is an electronic version remixed by Westbam.

The music video features many shots of a futuristic city and references The Terminator, Star Wars, Star Trek, Blade Runner and Scarface. The video is primarily set in a future war; the band are deopicted as soldiers armed with weapons and space ships.

Released in 1982 by the Spanish post punk group Paralisis Permanente, active 1981 - 1983. They started as a project by Eduardo Benavente and Nacho Canut, parallel from Alaska Y Los Pegamoides, trying more risky and sinister sounds.

Nacho would leave the band to center in "Alaska" and Ana Curra would move from "Alaska" to "Parálisis Permanente" to record their first and only album, "El Acto" (1983): Eduardo died in a car accident in May, 1983 returning from a gig, and the band would split up.

"Lambada", also released as "Chorando Se Foi (Lambada)" and "Llorando se fue (Lambada)", is a 1989 song recorded by the French pop group Kaoma with the Brazilian vocalist Loalwa Braz. It was released as the first single from Kaoma's debut album Worldbeat. The video, filmed on Cocos beach in the city of Trancoso, in the state of Bahia, Brazil, features the Brazilian child duet Chico & Roberta.

The song in Portuguese is a mix cover of Márcia Ferreira's 1986 hit "Chorando se foi" (lyrics translated to Portuguese) and the Cuarteto Continental hit "Llorando se fue" (first upbeat version of the song introducing the accordion), released in 1984 through the Peruvian record label INFOPESA and produced by Alberto Maravi; both songs were adapted from the 1981 Bolivian song Llorando se fue by Los Kjarkas.

The lyrics and music of Kaoma's "Chorando se foi (Lambada)" are an unauthorized translation of the song "Llorando se fue", originally composed, performed and recorded by the Bolivian Andean pop group Los Kjarkas in 1981. The song's lyrics and music had been lawfully registered in 1985 by the founding members of Los Kjarkas- Gonzalo and Ulises Hermosa- in Germany's Music and Authors Society (GEMA). The unauthorized copy by Kaoma led to a successful 1990 lawsuit by Los Kjarkas against Kaoma producer Jean-Claude Bonaventure.

According to Gonzalo Hermosa, Los Kjarkas had based "Llorando se fue" from a small, nostalgic Andean melody. Their song was written in a sad and slow Afro-Bolivian Saya rhythm.
